Renato Scaglione was born in Turin in 1932. He studied painting under Felice Casorati and while he demonstrated great capabilities as an artist, he had to join his elder brother, a sewing company representative, in Milan to seek greater economic opportunities. Post-war Italy was experiencing an economic boom and families in the countryside joined this entrepreneurship.
Renato traveled throughout the small villages outside of Milan selling sewing machines; it was during one of those trips that he met Celsa, fell in love with her and decided to marry her.
Renato and Celsa shared a strong passion for art and beauty and they decided to use their creativity and artisanal knowledge to launch a new business: in 1966 they established the company, that we know today as Maglificio Scaglione.
Today the company is managed by Giovanni and Anna, children of Renato and Celsa. Following their parents passion for creativity, they produce SCAGLIONE, a beautifully crafted contemporary ready to wear collection and an ever evolving study of innovation, materials and techniques.
